fly

Streamer

A larger fly imitating a baitfish, leech, or small mammal. Stripped or swung; targets aggressive predatory feeding rather than rising fish.

Also calledstreamers

Streamers play a different game than dries and nymphs. Instead of matching a hatch, you're triggering a predator response: stripping a Wooly Bugger past a holding lie, swinging a sculpin pattern through a pool, twitching a leech under a cut bank.

Big trout get caught on streamers more often than on small flies, especially in low light and high water.
